Finally.. completed all my exam paper.. left with one more practical + one essay to be completed.. Busy studying...memorising.. taking gingko.. hopefully it helps..

One of lecturer actually given me a chance to resubmit my essay... due to my negligent.. i suppose.. misread about the do's n dont's.. luckily.. she is kind + understanding + supportive.. able me to redo the whole essay..Thank god for that.. will "open my eyes".. n redo.. my stuff..

As for the exam.. already did what i can.. the rest.. keep my "fingers" cross.. the saying goes "Do your best, and God will do the rest"..

Next monday, one more practical to go.. as informed by our lecturer.. we will be taking the vital signs of the passer-by.. it's considered a practical exam for us.. to test our competency on vital signs + communication skills.. interesting..

Now reading through my last assignment.. APA format.. etc.. nursing.. so many stuff to write.. my gosh.. nvm.. everyday will be a better day..

The Tavern - lab

Yesterday, took the biology test.. haa.. manage to skim through and got 75% for my result.. was a relieve indeed.. During my biology lab classes, got to examine on the varies skeleton muscle of our human body.. its so different from what we studied.. Life subjects and book diagrams are 2 different stories.. will attempt by heart to know all the different part.. hopefully Gingko helps.. haa..

Besides saying this, biology is really a interesting and fanscinating subject to study about, as it not just simply book and theory... It's about what's happening within our body.. in order to rmb those "chimilogy" words.. one of my friend suggested to use those anatomy words in our daily life.. for instance.. instead of saying hip bone.. we should say Iliac crest.. patella instead of kneecap.. haa..

Went to school tavern yesterday (2pm) , as a form of birthday celebration.. surprisingly the ale beer doesnt taste so bitter.. n the alcohol content seems quite low %.. believe that's why there is tavern in uni... for student to relax and have parties... haa..

old ppl - waiting for ah mei pic..

Wanted to wait till my porky sis send me the pic..before i start updating again.. but.. she is so slow.. typically.. haa.. mei.. if u read this.. rmb what you should do.. n ask dad to do the same.. thanks..

Just wondering.. people are so fragile.. n weak as they get older.. their skin, emotion in term of physically and mentally.. all sorts of illness will come runnning after you.. the only solution we can do.. i suppose is to ask God for help.. that's what some of my resident do.. there is this particular old lady.. called Hilda.. thou she is 96 yrs old.. she is still capable of walking around.. eating.. drinking.. sitting.. pretty strong for her age.. thou she has dementia.. stm.. kept asking.. have i taken my pills.. wat time is meal time.. tea time.. etc.. there's something she simply rmb clearly.. that is God.. whenever you speak to her.. she will say.. i pray to God to help me everyday.. she rmb the bible verses.. n sing well.. haa.. and whenever she talks about God.. her face shines.. n you can see the smile on her face.. that could simply marks anyone day.. wonderful..isnt it.. her smile is so genuine and ignorant.. haa.. rare cases.. she rmb me.. coz..she dont rmb ppl name easily..

Communicating with elderly ppl.. is not an easy task.. as they are more experience, mature and wiser.. hence they know the motive of individual..whether the person is genuine or not.. therefore.. moral is.. we should treat all ppl with respect and dignity... by showing them the care & concern required.. as a form of "Duty of Care".. in time.. they will open up themself.. to trust you..

Living in a nursing home is not easy.. in a way.. you would lose your freedom.. as you cant get anywhere further than the compound within the home.. provided you can drive..that a different case.. however.. as we get older.. there are limitation.. (cant drive, slow reaction, stm, etc).. hence travelling is considered a haste for all..

Went to la premier(consider gold class over in perth).. haa.. but.. the only diff is.. they have a higher and wider seat.. (+ popcorn & soft drink provided)..

Certain time, if things/thoughts are shared too freely.. or just a passing remark.. and one takes it too seriously.. perhape it is not a good things.. .. certain things said are not meant to be.. as it is only part of a conversation.. (pro the person care..?.. that y..) in the bible says.. mouth is the most powerful weapon.. as it can stir up something good or bad.. all depend on how the other party receives it.. but.. back to square one.. conversation is part and parcel of life.. one shouldnt take/interpret things too seriously..or attempt to read in depth.. as it will upset own self..if it is misinterpreted it.. too tired to write.. gtg for studies..more test + exam coming up..

updating..

Last weekend, went to king park for a short walk.. indigestion.. nice weather.. found the place where it was burnt.. was a pretty sight thou.. esp with the sun setting.. haa..

Realised.. whenever and whatever we do.. rmb to pray n trust god.. as many things happened for a reason.. not to repeat the same mistakes..but to learn from it.. was a pretty shocking incident to me.. tried to save a resident from falling.. which is a normal human instinct.. ended up.. got a sprain on my radial area.. n my back.. till now.. still sore.. but.. anyway..luckily.. i hv plenty of energy..haa..n strength.. will recover soon.. pray that all my resident are save n sound..

This week, busy with the upcoming presentation.. n test.. should be able to sort out in few days time.. think that I am getting old.. due to the fading memory.. in the morning.. i actually sat in a lecture hall.. at the right place but at the wrong time.. thinking it was the lecture i was suppose to attend.. puzzling how come there was a change of lecturer.. n subject.. din't really take much notice.. only after the 45mins.. when the lecture ended.. went out.. looking for my friends.. realised none of them was here.. checked my time table n time..ala.. realise i attended the wrong lecture.. an hour early.. that's y.. not a single familiar faces around.. haa.. so silly of me.. that's life.. full of funny stuff.. happening each day..

Solution - need more gingko supplement..

Visited a resident at bentley park.. for my INP 121 subject.. aim was to interview the resident "Patricia Bowman".. learn about her health history.. was a interesting and fun experience.. got to make an appointment with the resident.. chat.. get to know them.. importantly.. gain the trust of the resident.. hence when they are comfy with us.. that where they will start sharing.. gtg now.. test coming up tml..

Working -

Recently, study about nursing ethnic, rules and regulations, etc.. Realised that, as a carer we are not authorised to give medication.. as we do not know about the implication of the medication.. if we are to give the resident.. at the wrong time and wrong med.. it will be disaster.. however.. if we undergo supervision by the RNs.. and was declare medical competency.. "supposely".. we should be able to give medication.. as all medication are pre-packed in a blister bag..

Sometimes, working with certain carer where one dont feel comfortable with.. especially.. when they are bossy.. is kind of annoying at times.. but.. no choice.. that's life.. I believe just got to put up with it.. lots of topsy things will happen..

Ytd was a hectic but meaningful day, just right before i was ready to go off at 9pm.. a resident came up to us (Jackie n me) saying she was not feeling well.. needed some flu tablets.. we walked her to her room.. settled her down in bed.. realised that her breathing was fast.. lower lip was bluish in color.. eyes was droopy and her whole body was icy cold.. immediately.. we took her blood pressure.. as predicted.. her BP was 202/110, with pulse reading 96.. this was too high.. hence.. we called for the ambulance.. (meanwhile.. tried to keep her calm, looked for oxygen tank (in vain).. kept her warm by providing more blanket.. got resident documents ready).. 5mins later.. ambulance arrived.. diagnosed her with the equipment they had on hand.. thenafter.. decided to admit her to Royal perth hospital.. suspected "cardiac attack".. something new..

Today.. after putting one resident to bed.. without knowing.. gave her.. her bedtime medication early than usual.. ala.. supposely.. should only start giving med at about 1930.. anyway.. will take note of it.. there's alway a first time.. life isnt alway as smooth and calm.. shortly after she took her med.. she started coughing non-stop for about 5mins.. decided to look for Jayne the coordinator on the floor to assist.. as i had no clue what to do.. as this resident just recovered from a mild stroke.. and she is not eating well either.. who knows what might happen.. however.. after Jayne got over.. her coughing was not as serious as before.. My gosh.. shouldnt have inform Jayne about that.. haa.. cause she found out i had given the med too early.. etc.. n started to be like a "nanny" again.. and "XXX" to another incharge.. as usual... I know it is out of concern.. for the resident and "stuff".. perhape that's her character.. but.. all along.. dont really enjoy working with her.. too bossy.. n autocractic.. nonetheless.. documentated the whole incident down.. (Documentation is essential and Very Important - esp in the health care field - just did a assignment on documentation - wao.. there are so many implication and complication if things was not documented accurately)

I believe.. that's life.. there are all sort of ppl in the world.. not one is alike.. that's what makes the world different.. Able to admit and learnt from the mistakes done.. enable one to be more cautious and alert next time round.. indeed.. I did learnt something new today..or would say..everyday.. just part and parcel of life.. Will be more cautious next time round..

Human nature -

Yesterday was a movie marathon, watched 2 movie in a row.. in total = 4.5 hours in the cinema.. no wonder my bro + sis alway say.. my bottom is flat..haa.. nice movie.. diff concept.. fast n furious = exciting and thrill, shin juku = lengthy and alrite.. think jackie chan shld just maintain his status as an actor instead of an producer..

After having 2 week break from school, meeting up with friends.. seems like alot of unhappy events had happened to them.. aunt abusing nieces (action included = punches and kicking) - elaborating (to me.. this is simply absurb.. how can someone treat your own people in such a manner.. If i am the one.. i will definitely run away.. verbally abuse seem appropiate.. but definitely not physically abuse.. esp when the other party is not of the same size.. imagine how much pain she would suffer.. it is true her aunt is the one supporting her.. but money cant buy everything.. esp love + care + concern), quarelling with sister (on the verge of moving out).. dispute with parent due to XXX reason.. etc.. sometimes don't really know how i can help them out.. pray..

Went for a orientaton today @ bentley park under nursing school.. had a short tour around bentley park.. haa.. that where i am working.. while touring.. rain started pouring down.. hence we got to speed up (from walking to brisk walking) in order to tour the whole estate.. fun n enjoyable.. walking in the rain.. nice morning tea.. thenafter.. made arrangement with the resident.. to "pop by" for a visit nxt time round.. for an interview with them.. on their health history.. etc.. i suppose it will be a interesting experience..

okie dokie.. gtg now.. revision time.. tml having biology test..
