Working -

Recently, study about nursing ethnic, rules and regulations, etc.. Realised that, as a carer we are not authorised to give medication.. as we do not know about the implication of the medication.. if we are to give the resident.. at the wrong time and wrong med.. it will be disaster.. however.. if we undergo supervision by the RNs.. and was declare medical competency.. "supposely".. we should be able to give medication.. as all medication are pre-packed in a blister bag..

Sometimes, working with certain carer where one dont feel comfortable with.. especially.. when they are bossy.. is kind of annoying at times.. but.. no choice.. that's life.. I believe just got to put up with it.. lots of topsy things will happen..

Ytd was a hectic but meaningful day, just right before i was ready to go off at 9pm.. a resident came up to us (Jackie n me) saying she was not feeling well.. needed some flu tablets.. we walked her to her room.. settled her down in bed.. realised that her breathing was fast.. lower lip was bluish in color.. eyes was droopy and her whole body was icy cold.. immediately.. we took her blood pressure.. as predicted.. her BP was 202/110, with pulse reading 96.. this was too high.. hence.. we called for the ambulance.. (meanwhile.. tried to keep her calm, looked for oxygen tank (in vain).. kept her warm by providing more blanket.. got resident documents ready).. 5mins later.. ambulance arrived.. diagnosed her with the equipment they had on hand.. thenafter.. decided to admit her to Royal perth hospital.. suspected "cardiac attack".. something new..

Today.. after putting one resident to bed.. without knowing.. gave her.. her bedtime medication early than usual.. ala.. supposely.. should only start giving med at about 1930.. anyway.. will take note of it.. there's alway a first time.. life isnt alway as smooth and calm.. shortly after she took her med.. she started coughing non-stop for about 5mins.. decided to look for Jayne the coordinator on the floor to assist.. as i had no clue what to do.. as this resident just recovered from a mild stroke.. and she is not eating well either.. who knows what might happen.. however.. after Jayne got over.. her coughing was not as serious as before.. My gosh.. shouldnt have inform Jayne about that.. haa.. cause she found out i had given the med too early.. etc.. n started to be like a "nanny" again.. and "XXX" to another incharge.. as usual... I know it is out of concern.. for the resident and "stuff".. perhape that's her character.. but.. all along.. dont really enjoy working with her.. too bossy.. n autocractic.. nonetheless.. documentated the whole incident down.. (Documentation is essential and Very Important - esp in the health care field - just did a assignment on documentation - wao.. there are so many implication and complication if things was not documented accurately)

I believe.. that's life.. there are all sort of ppl in the world.. not one is alike.. that's what makes the world different.. Able to admit and learnt from the mistakes done.. enable one to be more cautious and alert next time round.. indeed.. I did learnt something new today..or would say..everyday.. just part and parcel of life.. Will be more cautious next time round..
